Cold Room Condenser Fan Manufacturer

Axial Fan for Cold Room Condensers and Refrigeration Units

Refrigeration condenser fans built on external rotor motors, designed for cold room condensers, walk-in coolers and HVAC systems. Cold rolled steel impeller welded directly to the rotor hub, so you won't get the shaft vibration problems that come with separate motor designs. Thirteen frame sizes from 200mm to 900mm. Single-phase 220/230V covers most cold room and commercial refrigeration installs. Three-phase 380/400V for larger condensing units. CE marked, factory direct from ISO 9001 production.

02 / Why External Rotor

Why External Rotor Motors Suit Cold Storage

Most axial fan failures in cold rooms come down to three things: vibration, corrosion and poor fit. An external rotor fan is designed around all three.

01

Motor Built Into the Hub, No Separate Coupling

Standard axial fans use a separate motor with a shaft connecting to the blade hub. That shaft introduces a vibration point, adds depth to the fan assembly and gives you one more thing that can fail. In a cold storage warehouse running 24 hours a day, that adds up fast. External rotor design wraps the rotor directly around the stator. The blades mount straight onto the rotor hub. Nothing in between.

02

Aluminium Frame Built for Temperature Cycling

Cold room condensers cycle hard. The unit might run at -20°C through the night and warm up to +10°C during a defrost cycle. Do that 3 to 4 times a day for a few years and cheaper materials start cracking at the joints. These cold storage fan motors use die-cast aluminium alloy frames that handle the thermal expansion and contraction without weakening. The black anti-corrosion surface treatment takes care of the condensation you always get when temperatures swing. Rated from -30°C to +60°C, isn't seasonal, isn't conditional.

03

Compact Depth Fits Tight Condenser Frames

Most cold room and HVAC condenser units don't have much space behind the coil face. A shaft-driven fan sticks out further because the motor sits separately behind the blade. External rotor design keeps everything in the hub, so the overall fan depth is shorter. Our 300mm to 450mm models are a common fit for European AHU and condenser frames; send the frame drawing and we'll confirm. If you've been dealing with clearance issues on replacements, this solves it.

03 / Full Specifications

Specifications: Cold Room Fan 200mm to 900mm

Thirteen frame sizes, 200mm to 900mm. If you're sourcing a cold room fan in the 300mm to 450mm range, the E Series covers it on single-phase 220/230V. 04 / Applications

Refrigeration, HVAC and Industrial Applications

IP44 rated, thirteen sizes, one motor platform. Cold room condensers, HVAC condensing units, AHU fan sections, industrial exhaust stacks. The right size is in this range.

Cold Room and Cold Storage Condensers

The 300mm to 630mm cold room condenser fan range covers most standard coil face openings. Walk-in cooler fan replacements and cold storage condenser motors in this bracket are rated for a -30°C to +60°C operating range. IP44 protects the motor against splashing water, and the die-cast aluminium alloy frame with its black anti-corrosion coating handles the constant condensation. For evaporator fan motor applications where noise matters in an enclosed cold room, 6-pole models run at 900 to 1,100 RPM and keep it quiet.

HVAC Condensing Units

Rooftop and outdoor condensing units see sun, rain and wide temperature swings. The condensing unit fan range from 350mm to 900mm covers standard HVAC condenser frame openings in commercial plant. Three-phase condenser fan motor 380/400V models are the standard fit where single-phase isn't an option on site. IP44 is standard across the range; for fully exposed installs, confirm the protection rating with us. Send the mounting or frame drawing and we'll confirm the fit.

Air Handling Units (AHU)

External rotor design is the standard AHU fan choice because the short axial depth fits inside standard housings without reworking the frame. The AHU axial fan range from 300mm to 630mm is what we currently supply to air handling unit manufacturers in Europe and South America. If you're sourcing AHU fan motors as an OEM and need consistent lead times, this is the range. Contact us for fan section drawings.

Industrial Process Ventilation

Industrial process ventilation runs hotter and harder than commercial refrigeration. The +60°C upper rating means these industrial axial fans handle drying oven exhaust and warm process air up to +60°C without thermal protection trips mid-cycle. Three-phase axial fan 380V models from 250mm to 900mm cover heavy-load exhaust stacks and forced-air dryers. An axial fan for drying oven duty needs to move volume consistently at elevated temperatures. These do.

05 / Sizing Guide

How to Choose the Right Cold Room Fan Size

Three things determine what size fan your cold room needs: the frame opening, the supply voltage and the pole count. Get any one wrong and the fan either won't fit, won't start or won't perform. Here's how to work through each one.

01

Start with the Frame Opening

Measure the circular opening the fan sits in on the condenser or evaporator coil. That measurement is your frame size. The overall unit dimensions don't matter here.

  • 300mm to 450mm: most walk-in cold room condensers and small commercial refrigeration units
  • 500mm to 630mm: medium cold storage condensers and rooftop HVAC condensing units
  • 710mm to 900mm: large cold storage warehouse condensers and industrial exhaust stacks
  • Replacing an existing fan: match the frame size of the old unit, not the overall blade diameter
02

Match Voltage to Your Power Supply

Wrong voltage is the most common ordering mistake in refrigeration condenser fan selection. The motor is wound for a specific voltage at the factory. It cannot be changed after manufacture.

  • Single-phase 220/230V: walk-in coolers, small cold rooms, light commercial installations
  • Three-phase 380/400V: large cold storage, commercial HVAC condensing units, industrial plant
  • Capacitor: three-phase models need none. Single-phase models need a run capacitor. Value varies by frame size, 1 to 16 μF, listed in the spec table above
  • Not sure about your site supply: check the existing unit nameplate before ordering. We can help if you send a photo
03

Pole Count Sets the Speed

Pole count is how you choose condenser fan motor speed without changing the frame size. Higher pole count equals lower RPM, lower noise and slightly less airflow.

  • 2-pole (2,300 to 2,650 RPM): highest airflow, higher noise. Best for open industrial applications
  • 4-pole (1,300 to 1,700 RPM): standard for cold room condensers where noise isn't the primary concern
  • 6-pole (900 to 1,100 RPM): quieter, suits enclosed cold rooms and evaporator fan applications
  • Noise gap: 4-pole to 6-pole is typically 4 to 11 dB(A) at 50Hz. In a refrigerated food prep area, that's worth choosing carefully

08 / Common Questions

Cold Room Fan. Common Questions

Five questions we get on almost every cold room and refrigeration condenser enquiry. Short answers, no filler.

What size axial fan do I need for a cold room condenser?

Cold room fan sizing starts with the circular opening on the condenser coil face, not the overall unit footprint. Measure that and you have your frame size. For most walk-in cold rooms, the cold room condenser fan size lands between 300mm and 450mm. Larger cold storage condensers with bigger coil faces go up to 630mm. Replacing an existing fan? The size is on the unit nameplate. No nameplate, measure the coil face opening directly and send us that number.

Can these fans run at -30°C?

Yes, -30°C is within the rated operating range of -30°C to +60°C for the standard models. Cold room fan low temperature operation was part of the design spec, not a feature added later. Operating temperature is not the same as restarting after a shutdown, though: where moisture is present, frost or ice can form on the impeller while the fan is stopped, so check that the impeller turns freely before restarting. If your cold room regularly drops below -30°C, contact us before ordering. Standard models don't cover that range, and a low-temperature bearing configuration can be reviewed for the project.

What voltage options are available for cold room fans?

Two options. Cold room fan 230V single-phase covers walk-in coolers, small cold rooms and light commercial refrigeration installs. For larger cold storage condensing units and commercial HVAC plant, you want cold room fan 380V three-phase. Worth knowing: three phase condenser fan models don't need a run capacitor, but single-phase models do, and the correct value is in the spec table above. Confirm your site supply before ordering because the motor is wound at the factory for a specific voltage and it can't be changed afterwards.

Is IP44 sufficient for cold room and outdoor condenser use?

For most cold room fan IP rating requirements, IP44 is the correct specification. The IP44 cold room motor rating blocks solid particles above 1mm and protects against water splashing from any direction, which covers splashes and dripping condensate. For outdoor units exposed to driving rain, or where moisture can condense inside the motor during long standstill, tell us the installation conditions and we'll confirm whether IP44 is enough or a higher rating is needed. Direct pressure washing is a different story. That calls for IP55 or higher, so contact us before ordering if that's your application.

What is the minimum order for OEM cold room fans?

For standard catalogue models, cold room fan OEM orders start at 10 units. The refrigeration fan minimum order for non-standard configurations, meaning custom voltage, blade pitch or connector type, is 50 units, and private-label orders also start at 50 units. If you're sourcing for AHU production lines or cold storage installation work, send us your frame sizes and quantities and we'll come back within 1 business day with pricing and lead time.
